The Scientific Council (SC) is the scientific management body of LIP. It includes all PhD holders, representatives of the technical and administrative staff and representatives of the students from each LIP node.

SC board: Alexandre Lindote (president), Raul Sarmento (Minho) and Ruben Conceição (Lisbon)
SC Technical staff representatives: Hugo Gomes (Lisboa), João Saraiva (Coimbra) and Zacarias Benta (Minho)
SC Administrative staff representatives: Elisabete Neves (Coimbra) and Natátial Antunes (Lisbon)
SC Student representatives: André Torcato (Lisbon), Fernando Souza (Minho), João Silva (Coimbra)
